All athletes can benefit from H.V.M.N. Ketone Ester—whether they are keto-adapted or not.

H.V.M.N. Ketone Ester raises blood BHB. BHB is taken up into the muscle through a transporter called the 'monocarboxylate transporter' which is very widely expressed. What's more, this transporter is also used for lactic acid, so trained athletes already have high levels! The enzymes for ketone breakdown are expressed throughout the body, apart from the liver. This means that even athletes who aren't usually in ketosis can break down ketones for energy. Researchers found that ~18% of energy during exercise can come form BHB (in non-keto-adapted athletes).

Athletes who follow a normal mixed diet can have the benefits of full carb stores as well as high ketone levels. This translates to a 2% improvement in performance with H.V.M.N. Ketone Ester + Carbs taken pre-workout.

Athletes who follow a ketogenic diet can use H.V.M.N. Ketone Ester as a pre-workout boost that doesn't spike their insulin.  H.V.M.N. Ketone Ester has not been studied in keto-adpated athletes yet, but these athletes should be very highly adapted to use BHB as a fuel.
